Project Overview

When years of coastal storms left Ess’s original roof well past its best, our team at HDK Long Run Roofing stripped it back and installed a brand-new .55 Trim Rib Coloursteel roof in just two days — complete with matching flashings and reinforced timber where the old framework had deteriorated.

Why This Reroof Was Overdue

Ess’s home sits on the Hibiscus Coast, where salt-laden winds and heavy rain are part of everyday life. The original roof had weathered decades of coastal storms, and it showed — worn profiles, compromised flashings, and timber that had started to soften underneath. Ess needed a complete reroof that could stand up to the conditions for years to come.

Our Approach to the Reroof

We planned this Hibiscus Coast reroof in two clear stages to keep the property watertight throughout:

Day One — We stripped the existing roofing material, removed half-broken fixings, and assessed the timber framework underneath. Any rotten sections were replaced with sound timber so every new fixing would hold strong and secure.

Day Two — With a clean, reinforced framework ready, we installed the new .55 Trim Rib profile in Coloursteel along with matching flashings. The two-stage approach meant the home stayed protected overnight — no risk of exposure to weather between days.

The Challenge: Rotten Timber Beneath the Surface

Once we stripped the old roof back, we found sections of timber that had deteriorated over the years. On a coastal property like this, moisture works its way into framework joints and softens the wood gradually — it is not always visible until the roof comes off.

We replaced every compromised section before laying a single sheet of new iron, ensuring all fixings were driven into solid timber and the structure would hold firm through whatever the Hibiscus Coast weather throws at it.

The Finished Result

Ess’s home now sits under a full .55 gauge Trim Rib Coloursteel roof with matching flashings — a profile built to handle coastal conditions. The heavier .55 gauge steel provides extra durability over standard residential profiles, and the Coloursteel finish resists corrosion from the salt air that is a constant on the Hibiscus Coast. With new timber reinforcing the framework and every sheet fastened into solid structure, this roof is set to protect the property for decades.

Long Run Reroof on the Hibiscus Coast

What We Are Most Proud Of

Kept to schedule — Two days, as promised. Splitting the job into defined stages meant we hit our timeline without cutting corners on the timber repairs.

Sorted the hidden damage — The rotten timber was not something Ess could have seen from the ground. Finding it and fixing it properly means the new roof sits on a framework that will last, not one that would cause problems down the line.

A happy client — Seeing Ess’s reaction when the job was done reminded us why we do this. A home that is safe, weathertight, and looks sharp again — that is the result we aim for on every job.
